while the title might seem cheezy and make you think that the magazine is under educated and horribly crazy, i picked up a copy of the magazine over the weekend and it is one of those things that I want to tell you about every single article cause they all make so much sense. it really i sa magazine, of what seems to me anyways, of truth. i know that statement is problematic and impossible, but this magazine really has a lot to say, or even to think about. all teh article are no longer than 2 pages and all really jammed pack with info. i wish there were cited sources to be honest, so i know that they are not just making stuff up, but i trust them.
below is an exert from one of the articles that is an exert from "The guardian" by George Monbiot. I think it really speaks to an issue that we all will deal with.
"In a lecture to the Royal Academy of Engineering in May, Professor Rod Smith of Imperial College explained that a growth rate of 3% means economic activity doubles in 23 years. At 10% it takes just seven years. This we knew. But Smith takes it further. With a series of equations he shows that "each successive doubling period consumes as much resource as all the previous doubling periods combined". In other words, if our economy grows at 3% between now and 2040, we will consume in that period economic resources equivalent to all those we have consumed since humans first stood on two legs. Then, between 2040 and 2063, we must double our total consumption again. Reading that paper I realised for the first time what we are up against."
